I named my studio after a nickname given by my aunt. I love the idea of “a grain of rice” also because as small as a grain of rice, it has all the blessing from the universe. I am very grateful for everything I am currently and would love to share my love for life with everyone through my artworks.

I received a set of yellow hat, shawl, and sweater hand-knitted by aunt Chang when I was 6 years old. I love them so much as they are warm and fluffy. I wore them almost every day.

“A grain of rice contains the universe.

 — the rain, the cloud, the Earth, time, space, farmers, everything”

One day, aunt Peng came back home with lots of toys and goodies to visit during me during college break. She saw me from far away, while I was sitting in the front of my dad’s bike and was talking and laughing with my dad. Aunt shouted, “Yinger! you look like a grain of little, cute rice!” Since then, “a grain of rice” has been my nickname and I love it.

Therefore, I named my studio ARiceStudio to honor this lovely nickname given by aunt Peng. It also sends well wishes for my art to touch your heart and delight you in surprising ways.
