A Post a day
I feel that I’m compelled to start this new series of art-making. I have been busy with logistics. I’ve finally decided to be more open in my art-making. I want to have fun online and share my thoughts, process, my experience every day. I feel thrilled and coincidental that I feel driven to start this new adventure on a leap. Happy leap day you all. Such a special day only once every four years.
Today I want to begin with my recent fascination with snow. I have started snowboarding last season with snowboarding, a sport I was afraid of getting into. However only this season that I feel I finally get a little hang of it. The biggest thing is I challenged myself to get out of my comfort zone and try something new. This allowed me to gain close encounters with different facets of snow. The snow has different emotions and also looks under different circumstances. For instance, the snow that’s being frozen onto the ground is very crunchy and color has a crystal glow to it. Powdery snow that’s accumulated for a long time shows a shade of baby blue shallow under the first layer. The snow that forms into icicles shows an even closer look to a crystalline structure. They glisten under the sun, which really resonates with crystal structures that I always admire.
To remind me of the observations of the snow, I drew this watercolor image of the scenery every time I go snowboarding. I see the pine trees covered with snow, the slopes with the snow accumulated, but has tracks that are created by every adventurer gliding over them. I’m sure the mountain knows a lot of facets of the snow, more stories I’ve experienced at this place. I’m just fascinated with all of this and posting this painting of mine in awe.
A toast to the leap day of 2020!
